The propane company personnel assigned to be on call for the weekend receives an unusual usage text message alert from the
system indicating a customer is consuming an
unusual amount of fuel or a possible equipment problem exists. The on call person checks
from his home and determines that there is an
unusual amount of fuel being consumed and calls the owner of the tank. It is discovered after conversation with the owner that the
tank(s) in question are dispensing tanks supplying fuel for forklifts. The customer had just received a large order and increased
assembly production from 1 working shift per day to 2 working shifts per day.
This 24/7 system access empowered the person on call with tools to make an informed business decision from home. In this case, time was saved by not driving to the office to get customer information and a sale was made by supplying the customer accurate usage information and getting permission from the customer to make a weekend delivery. This proactive action by the propane company on call personnel kept the customer's forklifts and production running and the customer experienced the value of working with this propane company.
